Sixty seconds. That is the whole audition.

Record one minute of yourself performing a poem, upload it, and the judges take it from there. No studio, no crew, no editing suite a phone and a poem you believe in.

Who can enter

  • ◆ Ghanaian citizen holding a valid Ghanaian passport
  • ◆ One video of you performing 60 seconds, no edits
  • ◆ Uploaded via the form below. Entries by DM or email are not accepted

Terms & Conditions

The rules of the round.

1. Eligibility. Open to Ghanaian citizens aged 18 or older on the date of entry, holding a valid Ghanaian passport. 

2. Passport validity. The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the finals date. 

3. The video. 60 seconds maximum, a single continuous take no cuts, no post-production, no backing track. Face and voice must be clearly captured. Over-length entries may be disqualified.

4. The poem. Must be the entrant’s own original work. 

5. One entry per poet. Only the first valid entry from each poet will be considered.

6. Submission. Only through the entry form on this page. 

7. Judging. Entries are judged on criteria and weights. Results announced on 5th October,2026.

8. Rights. Entrant retain full copyright in their poems but grant Ehalakasa a non exclusive, royalty free licence to use, promote, monetize and commercialize submitted videos, in whole or in part. Ehalakasa may retain revenue generated from such use.

9. Data. We collect your name and contact details solely to administer the competition, and retain them only as long as needed for this edition.

10. Conduct. Plagiarism, hate speech or impersonation are grounds for immediate disqualification.

11. Prize and Progression: No cash prize is currently attached. The winner becomes Ghana’s National Slam Champion, represents Ghana throughout the year, participates in the continental qualification process and, upon qualification, proceeds to represent Ghana at the 2027 World Poetry Slam Championship in Japan.

12. Amendments. Amendments: Ehalakasa may update these terms when necessary. Any changes will be published on this page and will take effect from the stated date.
